Description
The DeLaMare Science & Engineering Library offers laser cutting services on our Dremel laser cutter. Our laser cutter can engrave and vector cut a variety of materials, included laserable plastics and wood.
If you would like assistance from a Maker Wrangler while using the laser cutter, please book them for the same time.
Materials Approved for Laser Cutting:
- Wood
- Paper/Cardboard/Paper Stock
- Acrylic (No Polycarbonates)
- Cloth
- Glass (Engrave Only)
- Anodized Aluminum (Engrave Only)
- Any other materials must be approved by the Makerspace Manager.

- Engraving Area: 18" x 12"
- Cutting Area: 20" x 12"
- Maximum Material Thickness: 1.25"
- Maximum Material Thickness with Table Removed: 1.5"

Making a Reservation:
If you are using a piece of equipment, you will need to reserve a Maker Wrangler and that piece of equipment for the same time frame.
How to Book a Maker Wrangler for the same time frame as your equipment reservation:
1. Go back to the Makerspace reservation page.
2. Find the Maker Wrangler space and select the time frame.
3. Find the equipment you would like to use, and select the same time frame. You will see that both the Maker Wrangler and the equipment have grey blocks for the time frame you chose. Here is an example of what that will look like:
4. Scroll down and adjust the times as needed.
5. Select "Submit Times".
Directions
The Dremel laser cutter is located on the 1st floor of the DeLaMare Science & Engineering Library. The library is located in the Mackay Mines building on the south end of campus.
First select a start time from the grid below. You will then be able to modify the end date/time in the dropdown below the grid.
